All The Deets About The 'DuckTales' Reboot

I have some really exciting news, you guys. Entertainment Weekly just released new photos and revealed details about the DuckTales cast, aka the entertainers who will be lending their voices to the highly anticipated reboot. And I must say, there's some major star power aboard this animated revival.

It appears that Disney pulled-out all the stops as far as talent is concerned for the second-coming of the popular late '80s animated series with seven-time Primetime Emmy Award-winning actor, Allison Janney, voicing the character of Scrooge's longtime bae, Goldie O’Gil. As previously reported, the characters of Huey, Dewey, and Louie will be voiced by Danny Pudi of Community, Parks and Recreation's Ben Schwartz, and Saturday Night Live alum Bobby Moynihan, respectively. So needless to say, you can probably expect lots of laughs.

In terms of storyline, the quacky plot will continue to thicken in Duckberg, as EW reveals that the storyline will detail a decade-long family secret involving Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck. As an avid fan of the animated series, I can't help but to wonder what could've gone awry in the Duck family. Could the shake-up possibly be the result of Scrooge's incessant greed? Or perhaps it was Donald's moody and fickle behavior that caused the family turmoil? I suppose the possibilities are endless when it comes to these two antagonistic personalities.

As indicated by EW, the ongoing rift between Donald and Scrooge has ultimately caused them to stop spelunking together, so it sounds as if some treasure may be involved in the clash. As they say, money is the root of all evil — especially when it comes to Scrooge and his multiplujillion dollar empire. I can definitely see how that may come into play during the show's return. EW reported that fans will slowly learn the background of the gripe throughout the series' weekly episodes, which will ultimately tie together the details and reveal the source of the family conflict.

The revamped version will reportedly also see a development in personality and updated appearance for the characters of the beloved animated series, according to EW. Take a look at Donald and Scrooge's adorable niece and nephews. They certainly look like a precocious group of ducklings, don't they?

Huey, Dewey, & Louie

Huey, Dewey & Louie — portrayed by Pudi, Schwartz, and Moynihan — will return to their mischievous antics in the upcoming reboot.

Scrooge McDuck

According to EW, the revamped character of the penny-wise Scrooge McDuck will be voiced by David Tennant.

Donald Duck

Donald Duck, portrayed by Tony Anselmo, will reportedly return to the DuckTales fold on a full-time basis as his beef with Scrooge becomes a main topic.

Goldie O'Gilt

Goldie (Janney) looks totally prepared for the reboot — and any adventure that the new and improved Scrooge may happen to throw her way.

Gladstone Gander

Let's just hope that Donald and Scrooge's mutual disdain for their nemesis, Gladstone Gander (Paul F. Tompkins) will help to mend fences between the two.

Gyro Gearloose

Jim Rash will reportedly voice Scrooge's personal scientist, Gyro Gearloose, who seems to have gotten quite the spiffy makeover, wouldn't you say?

Fenton Crackshell/Gizmoduck

Lin Manuel-Miranda of Hamilton fame has reportedly signed-on to provide the voice of Gearloose's assistant, Gizmoduck.

Flintheart Glomgold

It also looks like Flintheart Glomgold (bottom right) voiced by Keith Ferguson will be returning to Duckburg as Scrooge's main rival in wealth.

Webby Vanderquack

In addition to all of the anticipated quackiness, fans can look forward to seeing more of Webby Vanderquack (Kate Micucci), Scrooge's adopted niece.

Executive producer, Matt Youngberg, told Entertainment Weekly that Webby will have “a stronger and more unique voice than she ever had before,” as coproducer, Francisco Angones, added, “We almost never say ‘the nephews’ or ‘the boys’ — she’s a crucial part of the adventuring team." Big kudos to Disney XD for adding a little more girl power this time around.

The whole thing is just so nostalgic. I can't wait to see what adventures are on the horizon for this web-footed family when Ducktales returns this August.
