The 'Imposters' Cast Makes A Perfect Team

Bravo's newest scripted drama, following the underrated Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce, is Imposters, which looks like a very fun and very twisty series about a group of dopes all duped by the same con artist joining forces in hopes of bringing her down. The premise looks like the perfect mix of ridiculous and totally addictive (I predict a lot of frustrating cliffhangers in this series' future). But what will really hold down the series is the cast of Imposters, who are equipped to deal with the show's many twists and turns. Their experience working in film, TV, and theater will make them nimble when it comes to revealing a new persona or be able to maximize the pathos for the fools who get played by Maddie's various cons and schemes.

The best part of any new show has got to be falling in love with the new characters and becoming obsessed with the actors who play them — who knew X character was played by a Brit, recognizing that Y star has actually been famous since they were a kid. And the stars of Imposters are a particularly successful bunch — here's a little bit about each member of the main cast.

Inbar Lavi

Playing the mastermind Maddie, who's tricked the other characters with ease, Lavi has plenty of television credits to her name, but I think it's safe to say that this character will be her most multifaceted. Before Imposters, her biggest roles were the MTV comedy Underemployed and procedural drama Gang Related, showing that she has the range to balance a show with varying tones.

Rob Heaps

First of all, Heaps is one of the many British actors who has actually managed to flawlessly impersonate an American accent. How do they all manage to do that?! In Heaps' case, it's probably his years of theatrical experience, per Bravo, and his London drama training. But in addition to treading the boards (that's what they call it in England, right?), Heaps has starred in lots of UK TV series, like Home Fires, and TV movie Frankenstein and the Vampyre: A Dark and Stormy Night.

Parker Young

Whenever a script calls for a slightly complicated lunkhead, Parker Young is the man that TV producers call. From Suburgatory to Enlisted, his best roles have fit into that mold. And it looks like Richard, the alpha male victim, will fit perfectly.

Marianne Rendón

The third member of the Maddie's Exes Club is actually the most mysterious of all — Rendón has no prior TV credits. According to Bravo, she's a recent Julliard grad who hasn't had much experience, save for some small independent film work.

Stephen Bishop

In what's still a short career, Bishop has managed to pack in quite a few guest appearances on various TV dramas since his debut role in Moneyball. More specifically, you may recognize him as one of Gabrielle Union's many handsome conquests on Being Mary Jane, and now he's going to be the man so alluring that he compels Maddie away from her newest mark.

Katherine LaNasa

LaNasa may not have name recognition, but it's likely that you'd recognize her face from one of her many, many roles in film and television over the past 25 years. She's had big recurring roles on Big Love, Two and a Half Men, and Longmire, played roles in Alfie and The Campaign, and had single-episode appearances on almost every show on TV.

Brian Benben

In order to cast the perfect more experienced grifter, you need a more experienced actor. Back in the 1990s, he starred in HBO comedy Dream On, then had his own short-lived, eponymous sitcom. His career is now firmly in its second act, with a long-recurring role on Private Practice, a supporting turn on Roadies, and now Imposters.

Uma Thurman

It's unclear how long she'll be in the cast, but is appears Uma Thurman is going to be a guest character on Imposters this season. I mean, I shouldn't have to tell you who Thurman is — she's The Bride, played Poison Ivy, got her heart broken in Dangerous Liaisons, and did the twist with John Travolta in Pulp Fiction — and her presence is a pleasant surprise that really rounds out the cast of Imposters.
