See The Red Liquid Lipstick Concealer Hack IRL

by Kali Borovic

Color correcting is nothing new in the makeup world, but I can guarantee you've never seen it like this before. Some makeup gurus swear by using red lipstick as concealer, but this YouTuber has found something even more long-lasting. According to her Instagram post, YouTuber Amy's Makeup Box used liquid lipstick as a color corrector. Huda Kattan found the video and posted it to her Instagram, proving that this might just be the next viral beauty tip.

Makeup is an art, which means that technically there are some "rules." While you can and should wear whatever makeup you like, it can be useful to know your basic color theory if you're going for certain looks. As Today Style puts it, "dark circles are usually blue or green in tone. If you look at a primary color wheel, the exact opposite of those colors are oranges and reds. Applying a bright red color underneath your eyes actually neutralizes the color you're hoping to cover."

But your typical bullet-shaped lipstick tube might not be the best way to go. Just think of how many times you reapply the lip product throughout the day. According to Amy's Makeup Box, liquid lipstick covers dark circles better. "It actually does work which surprised me and because it's a liquid lipstick it gave more coverage," her Instagram caption says.

Amy's Makeup Box uses Huda Beauty Liquid Lipstick in Cheerleader to get the makeup look. According to the Sephora website, the color is a comfortable, long-wearing matte lipstick. It's $20 and is currently in-stock on the online shop. Considering that other liquid color correctors range from $28 to $40, it looks like this trick will save you some money. Not to mention you can use it as a lip color afterwards.

According to Amy's Makeup Box Instagram, she uses the liquid lipstick just like you would concealer. Then she does her makeup routine as she normally would. The red color provides extra coverage. This YouTuber isn't known for her beauty tricks; she stick to colorful and glittery makeup tutorials instead. But this is just another reason to join the over-200,000 subscribers that follow her work.

Odds are you already have a million red liquid lipstick in your makeup bag. So you might as well pull one of them out and try the trend for yourself!
