This Holiday Palette Will Make Your Season Merry & Bright In The Trendiest Way Possible

by Kali Borovic

Just when you thought you knew what was coming, this brand spices it up again. Ditching their Naked Collection for the season, Urban Decay created the Heavy Metals Palette, according to founder Wende Zomnir's Instagram post. It's an all-metallic holiday palette that's sure to make the season merry and bright for makeup lovers. Get your wallets ready, because this is magic that not even Santa can can replicate.

When Urban Decay creates a palette, they don't hold back. There's been the sparkly Moondust Palette, and, of course, the icon Naked Collection, but this time the brand is trying their hand at something different for the holidays. They've ditched their signature palette setup and formula to bring something that you've never seen before — the Heavy Metals Palette.

The 20-shade palette is filled with all metallics, ranging from bright greens and blues to wearable pinks and browns. Basically, no matter what your style, there's a shade for you.

Apparently the formula is getting an upgrade as well. According to Zomnir's Instagram post, the shades are the "creamiest, most amazing, shiny metallics" that the brand has ever created. As of Oct. 9, there aren't any swatches out just yet, but you can see the shimmer just by looking at the pan.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to start your holiday shopping just yet. As of Oct. 9, the brand hasn't release a launch date yet or shared how much the palette will be. There's a good chance that even more shimmery products will be on the way though, since the post uses the hashtag #HeavyMetalHoliday.

Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette, $55, Sephora

The setup of this palette is unlike anything Urban Decay has ever created before. Instead of having a flip-open palette with shadows on one side and a mirror on the other, they're going for something more unconventional.

Instead of flipping the palette open, it looks as if you lift off the lid. Underneath, the palette is made up of ten bright pops of metallic color on the left and more wearable shimmers on the right. The mirror is smack dab in the middle.

Considering that Urban Decay has stuck to their classic setup for some time now, this is a refreshing launch. Although you might not be able to create a full eye look, since there are no mattes, it has every metallic that you could possibly need.

Zomnir refers to the Heavy Metals Palette as the brand's "first ever all metallic eyeshadow palette," but it's not actually their first. In June 2016, Urban Decay launched their Moondust Palette, which has all shimmers inside. As does their Afterdark Palette, which is still available on the brand's website

Of course, there are some reasons why this one is different than the others. Besides the setup and formula, this will be the first time that they launched so many sparkly shades all in one go. The creamy formula is also only available in this palette, not in single shadows.

So while this isn't actually as groundbreaking as the founder makes it seem, it's still a really exciting launch. There's no doubt that this shadow kit will be on wish lists all across the country.

Although there aren't any IRL swatches just yet, Zomnir did post a photo of Ruby Rose wearing the shades. As usual, the model totally rocked the shades and shows off how stunning sparkles look on the lid and the waterline.

With all the holiday collections coming out early, there's no doubt that this one will be arriving soon as well. Bustle reached out to the brand to see when the big day will be, but I'd keep an eye out on the founder's Instagram page, since that's where all the info has come from thus far.
