Major news, guys. Jackie star Natalie Portman recently gave birth to her second child. Her rep confirmed the news to Bustle and shared the following statement: "Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied welcomed a baby girl, Amalia Millepied, on February 22. Mother and baby are happy and healthy." Amalia is the second child for Portman and Millepied, joining big brother, Aleph. Given her beautiful name, you have to be wondering what does Amalia mean? The adapted version of Amelia is a unique and beautiful choice that may have special meaning to Portman.

Portman was born in Jerusalem, and in interviews has spoken about her strong connection to her Jewish heritage. It seems she wants to make sure her children are always close to that part of their heritage too. Her 5-year-old son Aleph's name is the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet, an appropriate choice for a firstborn child. Amalia, which is a form of the German name Amala, has a special meaning in Hebrew too.

According to Baby Name Wizard, in Hebrew Amalia means "work of God." For this reason, Portman could not have chosen a more beautiful name for her daughter. The meaning behind her name not only connects baby Amalia to her Jewish roots, it also simply a gorgeous name with a meaning behind it that is full of love. Don't be surprised if the stunning names starts racing up the baby name charts thanks to Portman.

Portman kept the arrival of Amalia quiet, just as she kept her pregnancy quiet for months. The notoriously private actor doesn't have any public social media accounts and she prefers to keep her family out of the spotlight as much as possible. That means you are unlikely to see any photos of Amalia anytime soon, but Portman's commitment to keeping her children out of the public eye is understandable.

She and her husband deserve their privacy as they adjust to going from a family of three to a family of four. Little Aleph and Amalia are sure to keep their mom and dad busy. After all, Baby Names points out another meaning for Amalia is "work" or "hard-working." With a name so closely attached to work and dedication, Amalia will likely follow in her parents' busy footsteps, and keep them on their toes as she starts exploring the world around her.

I suspect Portman and Millepied wouldn't have it any other way.
