In addition to being a pop star, activist, and all around lightening rod for controversy, Miley Cyrus is now officially a superhero. Cyrus' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cameo solidified her a spot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and sparked everyone's imaginations. But, will Miley Cyrus be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? If you're hoping to hear more from the singer's cheerful Mainframe, you're in luck.

GotG 2 writer-director James Gunn confirmed that Cyrus's Mainframe could return in future movies, telling BuzzFeed News, "She knows that there's a chance that the character may go on and become a bigger thing." Sounds pretty vague, but it's not a straight up denial, so that means there's hope. So, how would Cyrus come back to the franchise? Well, to answer that question, we have to go back to her original appearance — spoilers ahead. Cyrus appeared in one of the many post-credit scenes as Mainframe, a sort of A.I. box, one of Yondu's old Ravager buddies. And the scene ended with her teaming back up with their original Ravager group, including Stakar (Sylvester Stallone), Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum), Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), Aleta (Michelle Yeoh), and a CGI Krugarr. It stands to reason that if Mainframe were to return to the Guardians universe, she'd bring the entire team back with her.

"I'm excited by the possibility of doing more stuff with that particular set of characters," Gunn told BuzzFeed. The director just recently confirmed his return for GotG 3, which means if he wants to be the one to explore these characters, it'll probably be in that movie. So, the odds that Cyrus will be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are looking pretty good.

However, it's important to note that given the sheer volume of characters in this franchise, it's likely Cyrus' role won't be all that huge. Granted, her character could be up for a bigger role in future films depending on the fan response, following in the footsteps of Baby Groot, but all of that is still TBD. As Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told Collider, any future appearance by Mainframe and the old team of Ravagers could range from "a Howard the Duck level appearance" to "a large part in a future movie." Truly, it's anybody's guess at this point, and GotG 3 doesn't even have an official release date yet, which means fans shouldn't be expecting it for at least another two years.

Meanwhile, Cyrus is busy with her music career. She recently announced a new album, with a debut single, "Malibu," hitting the airwaves on May 11. And she's got her hands full as it is. If you're in desperate need for a Cyrus fix post Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, you'll be able to get one without waiting for the sequel.
