Amy Sohn

Amy Sohn is a New York Times-bestselling author of twelve books, including the novels Prospect Park West, Motherland, and The Actress, and most recently, The Man Who Hated Women, which was published in July 2021 with Farrar, Straus & Giroux. Her books have been published in eleven languages and on five continents.

Sohn graduated from Brown University in 1995, launching an autobiographical dating diary the following year which was published in New York Press. She later had a column New York Post, before moving to New York magazine in 2001 where she served as a contributing editor for six years, writing the columns “Naked City,” “Mating,” and “Breeding.” As a freelance journalist she has written for the New York Times, The New York Times Book Review, Slate, Details, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Men’s Journal, Playboy, and many others. She has written television pilots for HBO, ABC, and Fox.

She lives in Brooklyn Heights, also known as America's first suburb.
