Michael Riedel is a writer and broadcaster. He was the theater columnist for the New York Post for 23 years and is the author of Razzle Dazzle: The Battle for Broadway and Singular Sensation: The Triumph of Broadway.
Razzle Dazzle, a New York Times bestseller, won the 2015 Marfield Prize for arts writing. It is being developed as a television series. The podcast of “Singular Sensation,” which Michael hosts, can be heard on the Broadway Podcasting Network. He is at work on a new book about ten famous — some infamous — Broadway shows and their behind-the-scenes dramas.
From 1991 until 2017, Michael was the co-host of Theater Talk, which was syndicated on PBS stations throughout the country. Among his guests were Hugh Jackman, Denzel Washington, Daniel Radcliffe, Patti LuPone, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Idina Menzel, and Helen Mirren. The Theater Talk archive is available on YouTube.
Michael is also a contributor to Vanity Fair and Air Mail and has a BA in history from Columbia University. He and his wife live in New York’s West Village.
