The 2026 Oscars' Best Red Carpet Looks Were All About The Drama

Teyana Taylor, Emma Stone, and more celebs served major style.

This year’s awards show run finally culminated at the 98th Oscars, held on Sunday, March 15, at the Dolby Theater — and the attendees clearly saved their best looks for last.

Best Supporting Actress nominee Teyana Taylor, who’s been proving her fashion-girl status throughout awards season, wore one of the most coveted designers right now: Matthieu Blazy for Chanel. Her custom piece was a combination of two buzzy trends — fringe and “naked dressing” — making her a standout star in a room full of glam celebs.

Other best-dressed guests represented a range of designers and trends, including Elle Fanning, who wore a romantic gown from Sarah Burton for Givenchy, and Emma Stone, whose silver Louis Vuitton number was a masterclass in restraint.

It wasn’t just Academy Awards veterans who showed out either; first-timers also demonstrated their fashion mettle on the carpet. Cool girl Odessa A’zion repped the dress-over-pants trend in embellished Valentino, while Chase Infiniti made her debut in a dramatic lilac Louis Vuitton ensemble, with ruffles cascading down her waist.

With attendees who also included the likes of Kate Hudson, Rose Byrne, and Misty Copeland, this year’s best-dressed list was the chicest mix of names and aesthetics. Ahead, 14 of the Oscars’ best-dressed stars whose gowns were worthy of their own honors.

Peplum is officially “cheugy” no more. Hudson, who’s up for Best Actress for Song Sung Blue, showed how the flared-waist staple of the 2010s can be elevated with her crystal-embroidered jade green Armani Privé gown. She frosted herself with even more jewels — more than 41 carats of rare green diamonds from Garatti worth a whopping $35 million.

Taylor wrapped up her chic awards show circuit in arguably her best look yet: a custom Matthieu Blazy for Chanel “naked dress” covered in sequins and fringe. She upped the glamorous ante with a diamond-clad necklace with more than 18 carats from Tiffany & Co.

With its cap sleeves and deep open back, the Best Actress nominee’s shimmering silver Louis Vuitton gown — which took more than 600 hours to make, per E!’s red-carpet livestream — was pure elegance.

The Best Supporting Actress nominee brought the romance in a white Givenchy by Sarah Burton ballgown with silver wisteria details and a Cartier necklace from 1903. So dreamy, so ethereal.

The Best Actress nominee stunned in a noir fit-and-flare Dior gown with floral embroidery throughout. The cherry on top? Her one-of-a-kind Taffin by James De Givenchy Desert diamond necklace.

Buckley, who’s also up for Best Actress, leaned into color blocking in a red-and-pink off-the-shoulder Chanel gown by Matthieu Blazy. According to E!, the look was inspired by Old Hollywood legend Grace Kelly’s 1956 Oscars dress.

The One Battle After Another star pulled up to the event in a silk ruffle dress. The lilac stunner, which took 750 hours to make, was custom Louis Vuitton. Now *that’s* how you make an Oscars debut.

Ever the cool girl, Marty Supreme star A’zion wore an intricately embroidered robe over pants — from Valentino, no less.

It’s giving bridal. The Barbie star wore an off-the-shoulder aqueous ivory dress with delicate 3D floral appliques that easily could have doubled as a wedding gown.

The Moana star channeled her Disney roots in a ballgown from Antonio Marras that served major princess energy. Those embossed roses and bejeweled florals along the exaggerated hips? Magical.

Arden Cho

KPop Demon Hunters star Cho gave the “naked dress” a dramatic update by pairing her fishtail strapless gown with voluminous detachable, floor-length sleeves. On brand, both pieces were from South Korean label Miss Sohee.

The Bridgerton alum took a risk in a vivid hue, and it paid off. Her emerald green gown, also from Miss Sohee, was a knockout, especially with its dècolletage-baring strapless neckline and drop-waist hem.

Li Jun Li

Li Jun Li’s blood-red gown — perhaps a nod to her multi-nominated vampire movie, Sinners? — featured a sculptural, peplum-esque waist, asymmetrical corsetry, and a decadent train. No notes.
