Meet Ralph Lauren’s Team USA Athletes

Shaking up the Games in Paris.

by Erin Cunningham

So much of the Olympics is steeped in tradition: the rings and flag, the cauldron and flames, the torch relay. The same can be said for the clothing. It’s been 16+ years since Ralph Lauren first became an official outfitter of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams, intertwining their legacies over the past two decades.

For the 2024 Paris Olympics, Ralph Lauren has designed the Opening and Closing Ceremony uniforms as well as a collection of Villagewear apparel and accessories. This year’s Team USA collection for men, women, and children has a sporty and stylish spirit, featuring bold graphics, classic stripes, and color-blocking done in a patriotic palette of red, white, and blue. There are sporty varsity jackets and vintage-style tracksuits — a nod to the brand’s athletics roots — plus the iconic flag sweater that has become synonymous with Team USA and Ralph Lauren. Prioritizing thoughtful material and manufacturing choices, the offering uses recycled polyester and recycled cotton.

To celebrate the partnership, Ralph Lauren has assembled a world-class roster of athletes from a variety of Olympic and Paralympic sports. Below, get to know four women we’ll all be watching this summer.

Chiaka Ogbogu

Newark, New Jersey native Chiaka Ogbogu is no stranger to winning — she brought home the Gold while playing for the US Women’s Volleyball team at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. But off the volleyball court, her interests skew less toward sports and more toward style. “I am addicted to all things fashion,” she says. “I spend a lot time reading about the business of it, how brands are becoming more sustainable, etc. I also enjoy painting and pottery — I’m not the most artistic, but I love creating art.”

Lee Kiefer

“From a young age, I was a competitor who hated to lose,” says three-time Olympic fencer Lee Kiefer. For a well-deserved break from training (she dedicates 20+ hours a week to her sport), nothing hits like a mini-vacation post-competition. “I love to travel,” she shares. “Recently, we took a few days off after our World Cup in Hong Kong to visit Vietnam. It was incredible!” And like preparing for a bout, Kiefer is diligent about her in-flight routine: “Step one is always putting on my compression socks; step two includes chugging water; step three is trying to sleep as much as possible.”

Daniela Moroz

Even though sailor and kiteboarder Daniela Moroz spends 14+ hours on the water every week, her favorite hobbies outside of the sport aren’t too dissimilar. “I love swimming, surfing, and anything in the water,” she says of how she spends her free time (it makes sense that she’s an Aquarius!). Moroz finds inspiration from her parents, who met while learning to windsurf in Berkley. “They escaped former Czechoslovakia to chase the American Dream, so for me to now be going to the Olympics in the sport they originally bonded over feels like a culmination of that,” she shares.

Jessica Long

For 22 years, Jessica Long has been at the top of her sport; at age 12, she turned professional and took home three Paralympic Gold medals. Even after so much time, she says there’s nothing like “the feeling of the water and not wearing my prosthetics.” Pre-match, the swimmer keeps her routine focused and fun: “I always pack my bag the night before,” she explains. “I wake up, eat a banana, and have my coffee. I love listening to music to get me in the zone.” Post-match, she focuses on unwinding and relaxing: “I like to take a hot Epsom bath [while] reading a book or watching Tiktoks.”
