9 'Star Wars' Gifts "For Him" That Women Need, Too

Christmas gift guides are all the rage. It's no wonder to see why — everyone needs help picking out gifts once in a while, and no matter your religion, there's a good chance you're going to be buying something for somebody. This year, Christmas gift guides are all about Star Wars — or, more specifically, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Wondering what to get your pal who loves BB-8? There's a guide for that. However, one major flaw in the traditional gift guide madness is the gender specific category — with titles like "Star Wars Gifts for Him" or "What To Get Your Boyfriend This Christmas." It's not inherently sexist or evil, but sometimes it can be a bit offensive and limiting.

Just like the imbalance of Star Wars toys marketed for boys to those marketed for girls, Star Wars gift guides tend to lean heavily towards the men. For example, a Star Wars gift "for her'"might be a cute BB-8 purse (aka an accessory), while a gift "for him" might be the BB-8 drone (aka tech). But what if you're a girl who wants both? To those women, I say: screw Christmas gift guides and buy these Star Wars "boyfriend" gifts for yourself. Treat yo self to these nine Star Wars gifts (plus plenty of others) usually sold for men.

1. The R2-D2 USB Car Charger

R2-D2 Charger, $30, ThinkGeek

A mini R2-D2 that can charge my iPhone while I'm in the car? Yes, please!

2. Han Solo In Carbonite Business Card Case

Han Solo Business Card Case, $27, Amazon

Because women have business that needs to get done, too.

3. Death Star Bluetooth Speaker

Bluetooth Speaker, $60, ThinkGeek

What is so awesome about this speaker is that it lights up when in use, making it look even more badass in the dark.

4. Jedi Robe Sleeved Blanket

Jedi Robe Sleeved Blanket, $30, ThinkGeek

The coziest way to be a Star Wars hero ever.

5. MimoPowerTube

Portable Chargers, $30, ThinkGeek

These portable chargers use the power of the Force to charge your cell phone and other electronic devices. OK, that's a lie, each MimoPowerTube needs to be charged first (via USB). Other than that, these cute and small chargers are pretty powerful, and there are four different designs to choose from.

6. Luke Skywalker Watch

Luke Skywalker Men's Watch, $170, Amazon

Part of an official Star Wars collection, this watch is marketed as "The Luke Skywalker Men's Watch" — whatever that means. But I'm thinking there are some awesome female rebel pilots out there who also need to keep time.

7. R2-D2 Screwdriver

R2-D2 Screwdriver, $6, ThinkGeek

Perfect for anybody who has ever sat defeated in the face of Ikea furniture and thought, "Man, R2-D2 would really come in handy right now."

8. I Love You / I Know Rings

I Love You/I Know Rings, $20, ThinkGeek

These rings are a really cute gift for you and your significant other (no matter the gender), but what would make them even more cute would be if you kept the "I Know" and gave the "I Love You" to your boyfriend/girlfriend. Even though the "I Know" ring comes in bigger sizes (ugh) and is obviously meant more for men, who says a girl can't flip the script on this iconic Han Solo and Princess Leia moment?

9. Stormtrooper Limited Edition Watch

Stormtrooper Watch, $150, Amazon

Originally an SDCC exclusive, this stormtrooper watch is a great limited edition gift for any super Star Wars fan who couldn't get their hands on one at the convention.

There is literally no end to how much Star Wars swag can be purchased in time for the holidays, so don't be scared if you don't see anything you like right away. Just remember not to rule out anything just because someone else is telling you it's a "great gift for the man in your life" — it could also be a great gift to yourself.
