If you’ve been dreaming of pigment-packed eye color and wishing you had a reason to put on lipstick again, then you’re in luck: This fall, makeup finally feels like makeup again. That begins with your complexion. "I always want coverage where I need it without making the entire face look covered," Holm says. That dewy glow that might have looked at home at the beach? Swap it in for a soft-focus or satin finish.

"Eye makeup took a backseat for a while because everyone was focused on that very minimal, clean aesthetic,” Holm says. “Now we’re seeing eyeshadow and dimension come back, but that doesn’t mean you need to create a complicated five-shadow eye.” She’s been loving the glazed eye look, which brings in subtle shimmer and depth in a way that feels elegant — but is easy to pull off.

This fall, think spice: "I love taking colors we naturally associate with the season — chocolate browns, berries, and deeper reds — and finding ways to make them really wearable,” says Holm.

With that, here’s what she relies on in her kit to create the perfect fall look all season long.

Blurring Base

Your complexion isn't complete without a blurring primer, especially if you're going for a soft-focus finish. So Holm recommends starting with the SHEGLAM Good Grip Ultra-Blur Primer. "As a makeup artist, I’m always thinking about skin texture before I even apply foundation," she says.
