Asyia Iftikhar

Asyia Iftikhar is a freelance journalist, based in Birmingham and London, who covers socio-political issues, mental health, the LGBTQ+ community, identity and the entertainment industry. Asyia also co-hosts a podcast Audacious Aunties about the arts outside the Western World.

She has previously written and worked with the BBC, Metro, gal-dem, Pink News, The Tab, Burnt Roti and more. She has an undergraduate degree in Classics from University College London (UCL).

She also dabbles in stand up comedy and fangirled whilst opening for Women’s Prize shortlisted author, Natalie Haynes, on tour. When she is not writing, she is reading cheesy romance novels, catching up on the latest Netflix releases or attempting Couch to 5K. Again.
